Make your loved one a nominee on the bKash app

Good news for bKash customers! Now you can nominate your loved ones as nominees of your bKash account directly from the bKash app. All you need is your loved one's National ID card. Let’s learn more about nominating nominees and other necessary information.

(1) What do we mean by “Nominee”?

"Nominee" refers to a person nominated by a bKash customer who has the legal right to receive the remaining funds in the customer's bKash account after their death.

(2) Why is choosing a nominee important for bKash customers?

In the event of a bKash customer's death, their nominee will be able to withdraw the remaining funds from their bKash account by providing necessary information and following the required process. This is why, bKash has introduced the option for adding or changing nominee information to enable a customer to choose someone as their bKash account nominee.

(3) What is Nominee Information ‘Addition' and ‘Update'?

'Nominee Information Addition' refers to adding the information of one or more individuals who have a National ID (NID) card to your bKash account as nominees, who will be eligible to receive the remaining funds in your bKash account after your death if they are nominated.

'Nominee Information Update' refers to removing a previously added nominee from your bKash account and providing the information of a new person with a valid National ID card as a nominee.

(4) Who can add and update Nominee Information?

All bKash customers with active bKash accounts can add and update their Nominee Information.

(5) Who can be added as nominees?

You add any of the following individuals with whom you have a relationship as a nominee, like:

Father/Mother/Spouse/Son/Daughter/Brother/Sister

In addition, you can also select the 'Others' options and add anyone, if it is not possible to add the persons mentioned above. However, the person you nominate must have a National Identity Card (NID).

(6) What is required to add or update nominee information?

To add or update nominee information, you will need your active development account number (mobile number) and the nominee's national identification card (NID card).

(7) What is the method for 'attaching' nominee information?

To add nominee information, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the bKash app menu and tap on "Nominee Update".

Step 2: To add or update nominee information, go to the first page and tap on the "Start Updating Nominee Information" button. If you are eligible, you will proceed to the next step automatically; otherwise, you will see a message on the screen.

Step 3: Read and agree to the necessary instructions, rules, and conditions for adding or updating nominee information.

Step 4: Select Nominee 1. Provide the necessary information such as the nominee's name (according to the National ID card), National ID card (NID) number, nominee's date of birth (according to the National ID card), relationship with the nominee (father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, other), and nominee's mobile number (optional).

Step 5: Add Nominee 1. Note that you can add up to a maximum of 2 nominees.

Step 6: If you want to add Nominee 2, follow the same steps as Nominee 1.

Step 7: Determine the percentage (%) share for the nominated person.

Please note: If there is only one nominee, they will receive 100% of the share. If there are multiple nominees, please indicate the preferred share (%) that should add up to a total of 100%.

 (8) What is the process for updating nominee information?

To update nominee information, follow the steps below after 30 days of adding the previous nomination:

Step 1: Go to the menu of the bKash app and tap on "Nominee Update".

Step 2: To add or update nominee information, go to the role page and tap on the "Start Updating Nominee Information" button. If you are eligible, you will be taken to the next step automatically; otherwise, you will see a message on the screen.

Step 3: Read and agree to the necessary instructions, rules, and conditions for adding or updating nominee information.

Step 4: Select the nominee (Nominee 1/Nominee 2) whose information you want to update.

Step 6: Remove the information of the selected nominee.

Step 7: Add new nominee information by following the steps of "Add Nominee Information".

Step 8: To update the information for the 2nd nominee, select their information and remove it.

Step 9: Set the share percentage of the joint nominee/nominees.

Step 10: Submit the request (application). If the submission is successful, you will see a congratulatory message on the screen.

Please note that if you have two (2) nominees, you can cancel one (1) nominee and submit the application with the other. In that case, if the submission is successful, one (1) nominee will be permanent in your account.

(9) How often can nominee information be added or updated?

You can add or update nominee information successfully in your bKash account once every 30 days.

(10) After adding the nominee information, what is the process to delete that information?

Step 1: 30 days after adding a nominee, go to the bKash app menu and tap on "Nominee Update".

Step 2: To add or update nominee information, please go to the role page and tap the "Start Nominee Information Update" button. If you are eligible, you will proceed to the next step automatically, otherwise, you will see a designated message on the screen.

Step 3: Read the necessary instructions, rules, and conditions for adding or updating nominee information and give your consent.

Step 4: Then, open the nominee's information and click "Cancel" to cancel and submit the request (application). If the request is successful, the nominee will be removed from your account.

However, please make sure that, if there is only one (1) nominee in the account, you cannot remove them; in that case, you must remove the nominee and add another person as a nominee. If there are two (2) nominees in the account, it is possible to remove one and add another, or to simply keep one nominee by removing the other. After successfully adding one or two nominees to a bKash account, it is not possible to make the account nominee-free by removing all the nominees.

(11) Can one nominee be another person’s nominee?

The person you’ve added as a nominee can also be added as a nominee for any other customer's bKash account. However, you cannot add the same person again as a nominee for your own account.

For example: If there is a nominee 'A' in your account, you won't be able to add 'A' again as your second nominee. However, your nominee 'A' can be added as a nominee in someone else's* bKash account while he or she is a nominee in your account.

[* Please note that for being eligible to be your nominee, the nominee’s relationship with you will be considered and verified.]

(12) If there are multiple nominees, how can the share percentage (%) be allocated for everyone?

When providing information with the intention of adding two (2) nominees, the share percentage will be automatically allocated into two equal parts, 50% each, which can be changed until submitting the nominee information or update request (application).

In that case, it should be noted that the total amount of share percentage should be 100 as a whole number, where the share percentage of a nominee should be at least 1 whole number.

For example:

If there is only one (1) nominee: (let's assume, 'A' is the nominee)

The automatically allocated share percentage for 'A' is 100%. It has to be 100% because the total amount of share percentage must be 100.

If there are two (2) nominees: (let's assume, 'A' and 'B' are the nominees)

The automatically allocated share percentage for 'A' is 50% and for 'B' is 50%. You can change it to 60% for 'A' (or any integer between 1 and 100) and 40% for 'B' (or any integer between 1 and 100), where the total amount must be 100%.

You cannot allocate 0% share percentage for 'A' and 100% for 'B' because the minimum share percentage for one (1) nominee is 1% and the maximum is 100%.

 (13) What is the maximum number of people who can be added as nominees?

At least one (1) person and a maximum of two (2) people can be added as nominees.

(14) What is the process to know if nominee information has been successfully added or updated?

If the necessary information for adding or updating nominee information has been provided successfully, you will receive a congratulatory message on the screen, which will let you know that the nominee information has been added or updated successfully. Through this message, you will also get to know when you can add or update information again in the future.
